H.E. Prof. Koutoub Sano receives the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the OIC

H.E. Prof. Koutoub Mustafa Sano, Secretary-General of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy, received on Tuesday morning 20 Jamada al-Akhira 1442, corresponding to 2 February 2021, in his office at the Academy, H.E. Amb. Saleh bin Hamad Al-Suhaibani, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the OIC and the accompanying delegation.

H.E. the Ambassador started by congratulating His Excellency for assuming his duties as Secretary-General of the Academy, as well as for the impressive and important achievements and successive developments that the Academy has witnessed since His Excellency assumed the leadership of the Secretariat General a few months ago, noting – in this regard – the qualitative evolution of the Academy’s performance at all levels. H.E. the Ambassador also appreciated H.E. Sheikh Saleh bin Humaid, Advisor to the Saudi Royal Court, Member of the Council of Senior Scholars, Imam Khatib at the Great Mosque of Makkah, and the President of the Academy, for his patronage to the Secretariat General of the Academy.

H.E. the Ambassador concluded his speech by expressing the willingness of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s wise leadership to provide all the material and moral support of the Academy and all the necessary means by the headquarters state.

On his part, the Secretary-General of the Academy expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to H.E. Dr. Al-Suhaibani and his accompanying delegation for this generous visit and for the fine statements confirming the generous support that the Academy continues to receive from the headquarters state, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as a government and people, since the creation of the Academy to the present day.

His Excellency also took this opportunity to inform H.E. the Ambassador of the most important transformations and changes in the performance of the Academy, as the Committee of the Bureau approved at its last meeting the first five-year strategic plan of the Academy, which includes conceptualizing the vision of the Academy, specifying its mission, detailing its objectives, means in addition to a clear formulation of the most important activities and programs to be organized over the next five years.

His Excellency also affirmed the concern of the Secretariat General of the Academy to strengthen close cooperation and constant communication between the Academy and the major scientific institutions in the Kingdom, including the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, the Council of Senior Scholars, the Ifta Committee, as well as prestigious universities and scientific centers.

His Excellency concluded his speech by commending the generous hospitality he has received from all segments of Saudi society within the Kingdom since he acceded to the Secretariat General of the Academy, which has enabled him and his colleagues to carry out many quality programs and activities during the past months.

At the end of the visit, the two sides exchanged commemorative souvenirs, in which His Excellency presented the Ambassador with a copy of the new edition of the Academy’s book of resolutions and recommendations, which includes all the resolutions, recommendations and declarations of the Academy from its creation to the present day.
