IIFA and ISRA (International Shariah Research Academy) sign a Memorandum of Cooperation in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

As part of strengthening the cooperation and partnership relations between the Academy and scientific institutions in the field of studies, research and training within and outside the Muslim world, and in order to provide academic, Shariah, and intellectual support to institutions seeking to promote Islamic finance within the OIC Member States, H.E. Prof. Koutoub Sano, Secretary General of the Academy, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with H.E. Prof. Akram Laldin, Executive Director of the International Shariah Research Academy (ISRA), on Tuesday evening 13 Shawal 1442 corresponding to 25 May 2021 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

This MoU aims at consolidating a strategic partnership in the field of organizational and administrative skills and knowledge of both institutions, as well as the joint organization of conferences, seminars, workshops and training, cooperation in the field of digitalization and technology of Islamic finance, exchanging publications, and developing and providing technical and digital support to the Waqf Fund of the Academy, including the use of blockchain technologies in interacting with individuals, institutions, and charities in collecting Awqaf and donations, both cash and in-kind.

It should be noted that ISRA is affiliated with the Central Bank of Malaysia and its mission is to prepare and disseminate Shariah studies and research in Islamic finance and banking.

Secretary‑General of the Academy Visits the Consulate General of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan His Excellency Professor Dr. Qutb Mustafa Sano, Secretary‑General of the Academy, paid an official visit on 29 Sha‘ban 1447 AH, corresponding to 17 February 2026, to the Consulate General of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in Jeddah. For his part, His Excellency expressed his deep gratitude and great appreciation to the Ambassador for the warm reception and generous hospitality. He commended the tremendous support, gracious care, and continuous attention the Academy has received from the leadership and people of Jordan since its establishment. He also conveyed his sincere appreciation for the Ambassador’s recent visit to the Academy, affirming the Academy’s full readiness to do everything that would enhance partnership, cooperation, coordination, and communication between the Academy and Jordanian religious and academic institutions. His Excellency was accompanied by Mr. Mohammed Al‑Mundhir Rida Al‑Shawk, Director of the Office and Protocol; Mr. Mohammed Waleed Al‑Idrisi, Director of Media and Public Relations; Ms. Sarah Amjad Badawi, Director of the Department of Family, Women, Children, and the Elderly; and Mr. Amjad Ibrahim Al‑Mansi, Head of the Protocol Section.
