36th Weekly Meeting of Departments Directors

His Excellency Prof. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary General of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy (IIFA), chaired the thirty sixth weekly meeting of the directors of the Academy’s departments on Sunday 04 Dhu al-Hijjah 1442 corresponding to July 24, 2021. His Excellency opened the meeting by welcoming the attendees, then spoke about the senior officials he met during his official visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt, headed by the Grand Imam, Professor Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, His Excellency Prof. Mohammad Mukhtar Gomaa, Minister of Awqaf, His Eminence Prof. Shawqi Allam, the Grand Mufti of the Republic, and His Excellency Prof. Mohammad Al-Mahrasawi, President of Al-Azhar University, and the deans of its faculties and professors. During these visits, scientific discussions and debates took place on ways to enhance cooperation between the Academy and the leading scientific institutions in the Arab Republic of Egypt. His Excellency expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Egyptian authorities for their warm reception and hospitality.

His Excellency also spoke about his visit to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, during which he met with His Excellency Prime Minister Dr. Bisher Al-Khasawneh in his office, and His Excellency Dr. Mohammad Al-Khalaileh, Minister of Awqaf Islamic Affairs and Holy Places. During this visit, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Academy and the Ministry. During the visit, the Secretary General also met with His Eminence the Mufti, His Eminence the Supreme Judge, and His Excellency the President of the World Islamic Sciences and Education University. His Excellency indicated that these visits achieved their planned objectives.

The meeting reached a number of decisions notably:

  • Develop an integrated concept for a scientific forum between the Academy and the Ifta authorities in the member states of the OIC in order to strengthen partnership, cooperation and coordination.
  • Organize a specialized symposium on encrypted digital currencies.
