The Secretary General of the Islamic Conference for Awqaf visits IIFA Offices in Jeddah

The Secretary General of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy (IIFA), His Excellency Professor Koutoub Moustapha Sano, received on Tuesday, 08 of Muharram 1443H corresponding to August 17, 2021G, the Secretary General of the Islamic Conference for Awqaf, Engineer Mahmoud bin Ahmed Al-Awadi, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Academy in Jeddah.

His Excellency praised the efforts made by the General Secretariat of the Conference in promoting community awareness of the models of development and community Awqaf. He then discussed with his guest a number of challenges facing the Awqaf sector in Muslim countries, and the joint responsibility in promoting and highlighting the developmental and societal contributions of Awqaf.

His Excellency also discussed with his guest the mechanism of implementing one of the recommendations of the third session of the Islamic Conference for Awqah, which called on the Fiqh academies and the concerned institutions to check the general principles that should govern the relationship between the judicial authority and the executive authority with regard to the guardianship over Awqaf, and to study the ways and means of improving the appropriate judicial foundations in Muslim countries to benefit in dealing with Awqaf issues during pandemics, as well as developing and advancing the mechanisms for establishing Waqf Monetary funds.

The two sides also discussed a number of innovative development initiatives submitted by the Conference’s General Secretariat to support the development and protection of Awqaf proceeds at the level of Muslim countries, with the aim of informing the Academy of them to review and study their jurisprudential legislation.

At the end of the meeting, the Secretary General of the Islamic Conference for Awqaf wrote a note in the visitation book, and His Excellency the Secretary General of the Academy presented him with a copy of the fourth edition of the book of resolutions and recommendations of the Academy.
