Japan’s permanent representative to the OIC visits IIFA

His Excellency Prof. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary General of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy (IIFA), received the Consul General, His Excellency Mr. Izuru Shimmura, Permanent Representative of Japan to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), on Sunday 04 of Dhu al-Hijjah 1443H corresponding to 03 July 2022G at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Academy in Jeddah.

The Permanent Representative expressed his heartfelt thanks to His Excellency for the warm welcome and his gratitude for the opportunity to meet with His Excellency after his return and the delegation of the Ummah’s scholars who accompanied him from Afghanistan, stressing that his country’s government is following with interest the outcomes of the fruitful discussions held by the Ummah scholars’ delegation with the Afghan scholars and officials, especially the issue of girls’ education, noting in this regard the readiness of his country’s government to provide material support that could contribute to removing financial obstacles to enabling Afghan girls to return to school at the earliest.

For his part, His Excellency the Secretary General thanked His Excellency the Permanent Representative for his visit to the Academy and for his keenness to follow up the outcomes of the visit of the Ummah scholars’ delegation to Afghanistan led by the Academy, noting that the delegation was able to hold a series of discussions and meetings with Afghan scholars and officials on a number of issues and questions that aroused great interest in the international community, especially the issue of girls’ education, the participation of Afghan women in the efforts of construction and renaissance, and the issue of coexistence and tolerance. His Excellency assured his guest that he is optimistic that the visit will achieve its objectives, and that the topics discussed by the delegation with all transparency and clarity will find satisfactory solutions in the near future.

His Excellency concluded by renewing his thanks and gratitude to His Excellency the Permanent Representative for his country’s sincere desire to provide material and logistical support to Afghanistan, which needs great material assistance to face the harsh and difficult conditions it is experiencing as a result of four decades of wars and turmoil.

He also conveyed his sincere appreciation for the Ambassador’s recent visit to the Academy, affirming the Academy’s full readiness to do everything that would enhance partnership, cooperation, coordination, and communication between the Academy and Jordanian religious and academic institutions. His Excellency was accompanied by Mr. Mohammed Al‑Mundhir Rida Al‑Shawk, Director of the Office and Protocol; Mr. Mohammed Waleed Al‑Idrisi, Director of Media and Public Relations; Ms. Sarah Amjad Badawi, Director of the Department of Family, Women, Children, and the Elderly; and Mr. Amjad Ibrahim Al‑Mansi, Head of the Protocol Section.
