40th Periodic Meeting of Division Heads

On Sunday, 04 Dhu al-Hijjah 1443H corresponding to 03 July 2022G, His Excellency Prof. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary General of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy (IIFA), chaired the fortieth periodic meeting of the heads of divisions, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Academy in Jeddah.

At the beginning of the meeting, His Excellency welcomed the heads of divisions, thanked them for attendance and participation, and urged them to continue work, intensify cooperation and coordination between the various divisions and departments, and focus on accomplishing what is required of everyone in order to achieve the goals of the Academy. His Excellency drew attention to the important events awaiting the Academy after returning from Eid al-Adha holidays, namely the specialized scientific symposiums, in addition to the 25th session of the Academy, which will take place during next October, calling on all divisions and departments to make maximum efforts to make these important events a success.

His Excellency then touched on the topic of the visit of the Ummah scholars’ delegation to Afghanistan, led by the Academy, which was implementation of the resolution of the Ministerial Council of Foreign Ministers of the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), with the aim of discussing and engaging with Afghan officials and scholars on a number of issues and topics of concern to the Afghan people, especially the issue of girls’ education, the topic of Afghan women’s work, and the topic of tolerance and coexistence among followers of religions, sects and races. His Excellency pointed out that what the delegation heard from prominent Afghan scholars and influential Afghan officials on the subject of education in general and girls’ education in particular is promising, and that the return of girls in the intermediate and secondary levels to their schools will be achieved soon after removing the logistical difficulties and obstacles that prevent it.

The meeting then discussed the provisions of the previous meeting’s decisions, and issued several new decisions, the most important of which are:

  • Sending a letter of thanks to all Afghan officials whom the delegation of the Ummah’s scholars met, and to the Director General of the Office of the OIC in Kabul for the support and care the delegation received throughout the visit.
  • Remind the Conferences department in particular and all other departments in general of the importance of early preparation for the seminars on Family, Wills, and Islamophobia.
  • Instructing the Information Technology Division and the Printing Division to start coordinating the Academy’s 25th Session brochure.
  • Instructing the Gifts Committee to start distributing the Resolutions book in French to the representations and institutions that the Academy deals with inside and outside the Muslim world that speak French, in order to spread knowledge and facilitate the work of scholars and researchers in Islamic jurisprudence.
  • Reprinting new issues of the Book of Resolutions in Arabic because the first edition has completely run out.
