The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held its annual celebration to commemorate the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, which falls on November 29 of each year, at the headquarters of the Organization’s General Secretariat in Jeddah on Wednesday, 13 Jumada I 1444H corresponding to 07 December 2022G. Mr. Mohamed Al-Mondher El-Chouk, Director of Cabinet, Protocol and Legal Affairs Department, participated in the celebration as a representative of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy (IIFA) and on behalf of His Excellency the Secretary General of the Academy.
During the ceremony, the OIC Secretary General called in his speech for concerted efforts to revive the peace process under multilateral international auspices, in order to find a just, comprehensive and lasting solution to the question of Palestine, in accordance with international law, relevant United Nations resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative. His Excellency the Secretary General expressed the OIC’s condemnation of the Israeli occupation’s policies based on building colonial settlements and called for strengthening joint international efforts to confront the occupation’s policies and expose them to world public opinion.
In his speech, the Secretary General also condemned the illegal actions and practices committed by the Israeli occupation to change the character and geography of the city of Jerusalem, obliterate its Arab identity and desecrate its sanctities, violate the freedom of worship there, and attempt to isolate it from its Palestinian surroundings, pointing out that this constitutes a serious challenge that the international community must assume its responsibilities to address immediately.
On this occasion, the Consul General of the State of Palestine, His Excellency Ambassador Mahmoud Al-Asadi, and the Permanent Representative of the State of Palestine to the OIC, His Excellency Ambassador Maher Al-Karaki, delivered a speech in this ceremony, in which the employees of the General Secretariat and subsidiary organs and a number of general consuls and representatives of member states accredited to the OIC participated.
