Afghanistan’s Permanent Representative to the OIC visits the Academy

H.E. Prof. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary General of the Academy, received Ambassador H.E. Dr. Shafiq Samim, Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), on Monday 06 Muharram 1445 corresponding to 24 July 2023, at the Secretariat General’s headquarters in Jeddah.

His Excellency the Ambassador expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and his honor to visit the Academy, which is considered the leading jurisprudential authority in the Muslim world. He appreciated the considerable efforts under His Excellency’s leadership in the service of Islam and Muslims, particularly with regard to the unification of the word “Ummah”, the dissemination of correct concepts about Islam and the promotion of the values of moderation, restraint and peaceful coexistence, welcoming the Academy and the Muslim scholars delegation headed by the Secretary General to Afghanistan and efforts to enhance cooperation and communication between the Academy and the current Afghan government.

For his part, His Excellency welcomed and thanked him for his role in the success of the Ummah scholars’ first visit to Afghanistan to dialogue and communicate with Afghan scholars and the ruling authority on a number of current issues. His Excellency also spoke of the Ummah scholars’ delegation’s second visit to Afghanistan in the coming days to continue dialogue and discussion with Afghan scholars and the ruling authority. This aims to continue discussions and dialogue with the incumbent authority on the latest developments related to the topics previously addressed by the delegation, in particular with regard to the issue of women’s education, the participation of women in efforts to build and progress, and the promotion of cooperation, communication and integration between all segments of Afghan people.

At the end of the meeting, he renewed his great hope that the objectives of the forthcoming visit by the delegation of Muslim scholars would be achieved, stressing that he was fully prepared to provide all the facilities necessary for the success of the visit.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Muhammad Chouk, Director of Legal Affairs and Protocols, and Mr. Muhammad Al-Idrisi, Director of the Media and Public Relations.
