H.E. Prof. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary General of the Academy, received on Thursday 01 Safar 1445, corresponding to August 17, 2023, H.E. Dr. Abdulrahman bin Abdullah Al Zaid, Deputy Secretary General of the Muslim World League at the Academy’s headquarters in Jeddah.

Abdul Rahman Al-Zaid expressed his sincere thanks and gratitude to the Secretary General for the warm welcome extended to him. He also conveyed the greetings of the MWL Secretary General, H.E. Sheikh Muhammad bin Abdelkarim Al-Issa, underlining the MWL’s willingness to support and strengthen cooperative ties. His Excellency underlined the MWL’s willingness to support and strengthen the ties of cooperation and coordination with the Academy on issues and topics of concern to Muslims worldwide and appreciated the Academy’s considerable efforts to spread the values of moderation, coexistence and tolerance. His Excellency also referred to the great importance attached to the Makkah document, which is the most important, comprehensive, and approved contemporary document, having been published by over 1,200 Muslim personalities representing the Muslim world, including muftis, leading scholars, noting that the MWL is ready to cooperate with the MWL Fiqh Council to implement activities, programs and initiatives. The scientific work contained in this document, through the activation of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the OIC and the MWL.

For his part, His Excellency welcomed his honored guest, thanking him for his visit and expressing his appreciation for the valuable efforts and major achievements undertaken by the Muslim World League under the leadership of H.E. Sheikh Dr. Muhammad bin Abdelkarim Al-Issa – may Allah protect him -, particularly in highlighting the tolerant teachings of Islam based on moderation and restraint. He also stressed the importance of the World League for Human Rights in promoting dialogue and understanding between peoples in international forums, and welcomed the League’s distinguished presence, as well as its valuable contribution to correcting misconceptions about the pure values of Islam and its great teachings. His Excellency noted that there is agreement between the noble aims of the OIC and the MWL, on the one hand, and between the latter and the IIFA, on the other. He looked forward to strengthening cooperative ties on issues of interest to the Ummah, particularly in the implementation of the scientific activities contained in the Makkah document, beginning with its adoption as part of the Academy’s resolutions at the next session. His Excellency concluded by expressing the hope that the two organizations would jointly organize specialized scientific symposia on calamities and developments.
