Secretary General receives Rector of International Islamic University of Malaysia

Within the framework of the cooperation agreement between the Academy and the International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM), H.E. Prof. Tan Sri Zulkifli Abdulrazzaq, Rector of the International Islamic University of Malaysia, visited the International Islamic Fiqh Academy, accompanied by Dato Sri Syed Hussain Abdul Qadir, member of the IIUM Board of Governors, on Sunday 04 Safar 1445, corresponding to August 20, 2023, and were received at the Academy by H.E. Prof. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary General of the Academy.

At the start of the meeting, His Excellency expressed his deep thanks and appreciation to the Secretary General for the warm welcome, good reception and generous hospitality, praising the Academy’s distinguished intellectual efforts in promoting the values of moderation, tolerance, openness, and coexistence among OIC member states. His Excellency expressed his desire to strengthen relations of cooperation, partnership, and communication between the Academy and the IIUM in many areas, including inviting IIUM members to participate in scientific activities, programs, conferences and seminars organized by the Academy on emerging issues and developments.

For his part, His Excellency expressed his great pleasure and thanks to His Excellency and the accompanying delegation, noting that this was a sincere expression of IIUM’s desire to consolidate the ties of communication and cooperation between the two parties. His Excellency presented the Academy as a place for meeting and exchanging ideas, objectives, means and members, and also emphasized the Academy’s status as the supreme and primary jurisprudential reference to which OIC member states refer to clarify legal rulings in calamities, developments, and issues of concern to Muslims worldwide, making it a living model for the institution of collective ijtihad. Achieving intellectual convergence and cognitive integration between the jurists and thinkers of the Ummah who represent fifty-seven (57) Muslim countries in addition to Muslim communities worldwide. His Excellency also explained that the Academy organizes sessions and seminars to study contemporary issues and developments, as well as to carry out Ijtihad in these fields, with the aim of clarifying appropriate legal rulings by issuing Shariah resolutions. It is accepted by the scholars of the Ummah in the present age. His Excellency stressed that the participation of IIUM members in the various activities, programs, conferences and seminars organized by the Academy was most welcome.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Abdelfattah Mahmoud Abnauf, Director of the Planning, International Cooperation and External Relations Department, Mr. Muhammad Al-Idrisi, Director of the Media and Public Relations Department, and Mr. Hajj Manta Drama, Head of International Cooperation and External Relations Department.
