Head of Political and Economic Affairs at US Consulate visits Academy

H.E. Prof. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary General of the Academy, received H.E. Mrs. Zahra Atmer, the new Head of the Political and Economic Affairs Division at the US Consulate General in Jeddah, on the afternoon of 28th Safar 1445, corresponding to 13th September 2023, at the headquarters of the Secretariat General of the Academy in Jeddah.

His Excellency welcomed his guest and congratulated her on her appointment as the new head of the Political and Economic Affairs Division at the US Consulate General in Jeddah, wishing her success in her duties, expressing on this occasion the Academy’s sincere thanks and utmost appreciation for her successor, Mr. Allen, for his cooperation and communication with the Academy during its tenure. His Excellency then gave his guest an additional overview of the Academy’s vision, mission, goals, initiatives, and efforts in the field of promoting the values of moderation, tolerance, coexistence, openness, and constructive dialogue between followers of religions around the world, as well as its appreciated initiatives in defending women’s right to education, and to participate in construction, renaissance and development efforts within the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and in Muslim communitie. His Excellency concluded his speech by expressing the Academy’s full readiness to cooperate and communicate with Her Excellency’s office and the Consulate General in all areas of common interest, within areas of strategic partnership between the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the US State Department, which the two parties discussed during the past year in Washington.

For her part, the Head of the Department expressed her thanks and gratitude to His Excellency for the warm reception and warm welcome, praising the Academy’s appreciated and commendable efforts in the field of promoting the values of moderation, tolerance, coexistence and dialogue throughout the world, especially its distinguished efforts in defending women’s right to education everywhere, combating all forms of violence and bullying against them, correcting misconceptions about their role in public life, and also defending the rights of minorities. She also noted the readiness of her office and the Consulate General in general to continue cooperation and communication in everything that would enable women in the Islamic world to receive education and work. Participating in construction, renaissance, and development efforts everywhere.

At the end of the meeting, the Secretary General renewed his thanks and appreciation to his guest, presented her with a copy of the Academy’s publications and the book of the Academy’s resolutions and recommendations in English. The meeting was attended by Ms. Sarah Amjad Hussein, Director of Family and Women’s Affairs at the Academy.
