H.E. Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Hassan Al-Taha, President and Senior Scholar of the Iraqi Fiqh Academy and his accompanying delegation visited the headquarters of the Academy in Jeddah on Wednesday 10 Ramadan 1445, corresponding to 20 March 2024, and was received by H.E. Prof. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary General of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy.
The Secretary General of the Academy expressed his thanks and appreciation to his guest and his accompanying delegation for the visit, giving the distinguished guest a brief overview of the Academy’s vision, objectives and mission, stressing the full readiness of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy to strengthen cooperation and coordination with the Iraqi Fiqh Academy in all issues relevant to the Ummah, as well as to implement the memorandum of cooperation signed with the Academy. Hence, His Excellency requested them to nominate scholars and researchers to participate in next session of the Academy. His Excellency also expressed his sincere thanks to the Republic of Iraq for its continuous support of the Academy since its creation, praising the distinguished contributions of Iraqi scholars throughout history.
For his part, H.E. Sheikh Al Taha, President of the Iraqi Fiqh Academy, expressed his thanks to His Excellency for the warm welcome he and the accompanying delegation received, saying: “Thanks to Almighty Allah, we had the opportunity to visit the International Islamic Fiqh Academy and were pleased to see those in charge of it, especially the Secretary General, Prof. Sano, may Allah protect him, and we were briefed on some of what should be studied from the perspective of Sharia in the next session of the Academy taking place in November. So, We ask Allah to bless this institution to fulfill its mission in a way that pleases him and benefits all Muslims.”
The meeting was attended from the Iraqi side by Sheikh Dr. Abdulwahab Al-Samarrai, member of the Iraqi Fiqh Academy, and from the side of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy by Dr. Abdulfattah Abnauf, Director of the Planning and International Cooperation Department, Dr. Mohammed Mustafa Shuaib, Supervisor of Fatwa and Reviews Observatory, and Mr. Amjad Ibrahim Mustafa, Head of the Protocol at the Academy.
