His Eminence Professor Dr Ahmad Saeed Galdanci was born in Nigeria in 1933. He obtained a Bachelor’s Degree (Higher Diploma) from the University of London in 1962, a Master’s Degree from the University of Cambridge in 1969, and a Ph.D. from the Faculty of Dar Al-Uloom, Cairo University, in 1974.
His Eminence was appointed as a delegated member of the Council of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy, representing the Republic of Nigeria, in 1997. His Eminence held several important positions, including serving as Principal of the College of Arabic Language and Islamic Studies in Kano, Nigeria; Lecturer and Professor at the College of Arabic Language and Islamic Studies, Ahmadu Bello University, Nigeria; Dean of Abdullahi Bayero College at Ahmadu Bello University; and Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Usman Dan Fodio University, Sokoto, Nigeria. He also served as a Visiting Professor at Northwestern University in the United States of America, Professor at Bayero University, Ambassador at the Embassy of Nigeria in Riyadh, a National Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission of Nigeria, Chairman of the National Universities Commission of Nigeria, President of the Islamic Foundation of Nigeria, and Religious Guide of the National Mosque in Abuja, Nigeria. His Eminence received several honours in Nigeria, including the National Honour Award, an Educational Merit Certificate, a Government Merit Certificate, the Distinguished Professor Award, the Honorary Vice-Chancellor’s Award of Usman Dan Fodio University, and numerous other distinctions.
