Somalia’s Permanent Representative to OIC visits IIFA

H.E. Prof. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary General of the Academy, received on Monday, 08 Safar 1446, corresponding to 12 August 2024, Ambassador Dr. Abdulkadir Moalim Nur, Permanent Representative of the Federal Republic of Somalia to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and his accompanying delegation at the Academy’s headquarters in Jeddah

The Secretary General welcomed his guests and thanked them for the support and care of the Federal Republic of Somalia’s government, which the Academy received since its creation. His Excellency commended his counterpart’s keenness to strengthen cooperation and coordination relations between the Academy and scientific institutions and centers in Somalia. He also stressed the Academy’s full readiness to provide intellectual and religious support to the Somali authorities in addition to cooperation with the great scholars of Somalia to promote moderation, reject fanaticism and extremism, dismantle hate speech, violence, and militancy, spread the culture of moderation, tolerance and coexistence, and to combat extremist ideologies.

The Somali Ambassador expressed his happiness at this first visit to the Academy since assuming his duties, his honor of meeting the Secretary General and discussing with him ways to enhance cooperation with the Academy to benefit from its scientific and intellectual potential to promote peace and social reform, spread the culture of moderation, tolerance, and rejection of extremist thoughts in Somalia. He concluded his visit by writing his feelings in the IIFA golden book, where he said: “I wish to express my thanks for this opportunity to visit the International Islamic Fiqh Academy and meet my brother Prof. Koutoub Sano, and I am happy the meeting went well, and I wish plenty of success for the Academy.”

The meeting was attended by H.E. Mr. Abdulrahim Osman Alami, Deputy Permanent Representative of Somalia to the OIC, and Mr. Mohamed Walid Al-Idrissi, Director of the Media, Public Relations, and Information Technology Department of the Academy.
