As the Secretariat General of the Academy is keen to follow up on its departments’ activities and progress, discuss them, and take agreed-upon decisions, H.E. Prof. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary General of the Academy, chaired the 130th weekly meeting of department directors on Monday, 28th Rabi Al-Awal 1446, corresponding to 01 October 2024, at the IIFA’s headquarters in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Secretary General thanked the participants for attending the meeting and congratulated everyone on the success of the medical-fiqh symposium held in cooperation with the Saudi Food and Drug Authority on 21-22 Rabi’ I, 1446, corresponding to 24-25 September 2024. He explained that it achieved the main objectives for which this symposium was held, and this symposium is considered one of the important symposiums due to its relevance to the developments of the halal industry in Muslim countries and communities. His Excellency also indicated IIFA’s aspiration to hold more conferences in this field, especially the issues of the halal industry in Muslim communities, which is needed to respond to the call to express Sharia opinion on such topics and intensify efforts and support them.
The meeting discussed previous decisions and issued new ones, namely:
- Summarizing the recommendations and conclusions of the Cultured Meat Symposium to be sent to the participants for their comments.
- Including the documents issued by OIC and MWL, such as the Makkah Document, the Building Bridges Declaration, and the Women in Islam Declaration, in the twenty-sixth session’s documents to be adopted by the Council of the Academy.
- Conceiving five topics for study and research to propose to the General Presidency of the Two Holy Mosques for holding a joint conference or symposium.
