On the sidelines of the 15th session of the OIC Foreign Ministers Council in Yaoundé, Cameroon, H.E. Prof. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary General of the Academy, met with H.E. Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the current Afghan Authority, along with H.E. Ambassador Shafiq Samim, Permanent Representative of Afghanistan to the OIC. The meeting took place on Thursday 25 Safar 1446, corresponding to 29 August 2024, with the participation of H.E. Tariq Ali Bakhit, OIC Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian, Cultural, Social, and Family Affairs, and Special Envoy to Afghanistan; and H.E. Dr. Afnan Al-Shu’aybi, Executive Director of OIC’s Women Development Organization.
At meeting’s onset, the Afghan Minister greeted the Secretary General and his delegation, praising the efforts of the OIC Secretariat General and its affiliates, in particular, the International Islamic Fiqh Academy, for its tireless efforts to provide solutions to Afghan issues, and especially those concerning female education, women’s participation in development and progress, and strengthening cooperation, among all components of Afghan society.
The Secretary General of the Academy then expressed his deep thanks and appreciation to the Afghan Minister and his accompanying delegation for this opportunity to meet with him, praising the efforts of the ruling authority in general and his ministry in particular for allowing girls and women to receive education in both religious and worldly aspects and in all levels and fields of knowledge, as well as promoting Afghan women’s participation in development efforts. The Secretary General of the Academy also expressed his hopes to enhance cooperation and coordination between the governing authority through the office of the OIC in Kabul and the Special Envoy to Afghanistan.
It should be noted that Mr. Saad Al-Samar, Head of the Media Division at the Academy, took part in the meeting.
