H.E. Mr. Yamamoto Daisuke, Japan’s Consul General and Special Envoy to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) visited the Academy’s headquarters in Jeddah, on Monday 30 Rabi Al-Awal 1446, corresponding to 07 October 2024, and was received by H.E. Prof. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary General of the Academy.
The Japanese Consul General expressed his sincere thanks to the Secretary General of the Academy for the reception, outlining that his visit to the Academy reflects his country’s endeavor to strengthen coordination and partnership with the OIC and its affiliated organs, especially the International Islamic Fiqh Academy, which is considered the leading religious authority for OIC Member states and Muslim communities outside the Muslim world. His Excellency added that the government of his country highly appreciates the moderate and sober approach promoted by the Academy, in addition to spreading moderation and coexistence among religions, and that his country looks forward to further cooperation with the Academy to serve these noble humanitarian goals by co-organizing scientific events inside and beyond Japan.
In his turn, the Secretary General of the Academy expressed his thanks and appreciation to Japan’s Envoy and congratulated him on his appointment as his country’s consul general and envoy to the OIC, wishing him all success in his duties. His Excellency then gave a brief overview of the Academy’s background, vision, objectives, and mission, noting that the Academy is considered pioneering fiqh authority for OIC Member states in matters of elucidating the views of Sharia on issue of concerns to both OIC Member states and Muslim communities abroad. His Excellency emphasized the Academy’s readiness to support initiatives by any country to put an end to the bloody massacres of innocent children, women, and elders in occupied Palestine at large and in Gaza in particular.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Mohamed Mondher Chouk, Director of Cabinet, Protocols and Legal Affairs; Ms. Sarah Amjad Bedewi, Director of Family, Women, Children, and Elderly Affairs; and Dr. Alhagi Manta Drammeh, Head of International Cooperation and External Relations.
