Meeting between Secretary General and Burkinabé Foreign Minister during Yaoundé Conference

On the sidelines of the OIC Council of Ministers Conference in Yaoundé the Republic of Cameroon on 29-30 August 2024, the Secretary General of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy, His Excellency Professor Koutoub Moustapha Sano met with the Foreign Minister of Burkina Faso, His Excellency Mr. Karamoko Jean Marie Traore on Thursday 25 Safar 1446 corresponding to 29 August, 2024.

His Excellency the Minister Mr. Karamoko Jean Marie Traore expressed his gratitude to His Excellency Professor Sano for the meeting and hoped that the Academy can play a pivotal role in rectifying many misconceptions about Islam within the context of Burkina Faso particularly with regards to extremism, terrorism and religious bigotry. He invited Professor Sano to an International Conference that the Government of the Republic of Burkina Faso is organising on the theme of Promotion of Interreligious and Interreligious Dialogue in Burkina Faso in November 2024. The Honourable Minister believes fervently that the Academy can play a key role in this International Conference with regards to the themes and content in other to promote social cohesion and interreligious dialogue in Burkina Faso.


On his part, His Excellency Professor Sano, thanked the Honourable Minister for meeting him and for their kind invitation extended to him in other to participate in such an important academic and educational conference on a timely and relevant theme. He added: “Your Excellency, please rest assured that the Academy would be extremely pleased to participate in this important international conference that your country is organising. Please be assured of our commitment to take a leading role in this significant international conference under the auspices of the Government of the Republic of Burkina Faso”. His Excellency, Professor Sano concurred with His Excellency the minister that confronting extremism and terrorism cannot be only through purely military and security means, but also through the intellectual and educational interventions.

The meeting was also attended by Ms. Sarah Amjad Badewi, Director of the Family, Woman, Childhood and Elderly Affairs, Mr. Saad Sallahudin Sammar, Head of Media Division an Dr. Alhagi Manta Drammeh, Head of International Cooperation and External Relations Division at the Academy.

Secretary‑General of the Academy Visits the Consulate General of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan His Excellency Professor Dr. Qutb Mustafa Sano, Secretary‑General of the Academy, paid an official visit on 29 Sha‘ban 1447 AH, corresponding to 17 February 2026, to the Consulate General of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in Jeddah. He commended the tremendous support, gracious care, and continuous attention the Academy has received from the leadership and people of Jordan since its establishment. He also conveyed his sincere appreciation for the Ambassador’s recent visit to the Academy, affirming the Academy’s full readiness to do everything that would enhance partnership, cooperation, coordination, and communication between the Academy and Jordanian religious and academic institutions. His Excellency was accompanied by Mr. Mohammed Al‑Mundhir Rida Al‑Shawk, Director of the Office and Protocol; Mr. Mohammed Waleed Al‑Idrisi, Director of Media and Public Relations; Ms. Sarah Amjad Badawi, Director of the Department of Family, Women, Children, and the Elderly; and Mr. Amjad Ibrahim Al‑Mansi, Head of the Protocol Section.
