UK Special Envoy for Afghanistan visits the Academy

The Acting Secretary General of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy, Mr. Moez Abdul Razzaq Al-Riyahi, received H.E. Mr. Andrew McCorby, Special Envoy of the United Kingdom for Afghanistan, and H.E. Mrs. Cecille Al-Beleidi, Consul General of the United Kingdom in Jeddah, on Monday, 23 Jumada Al-Ula 1446, corresponding to 25 November 2024, at the Academy’s headquarters. Mr. Moez welcomed the envoy and his accompanying delegation and gave them an overview of the Academy’s vision, mission, and objectives, highlighting the visits made to Afghanistan by the Secretary General of the Academy. H.E. Prof. Koutoub Sano Moustapha on behalf of the Academy’s members states.

Special Envoy, H.E. Mr. Andrew McCorby, expressed his pleasure to visit the International Islamic Fiqh Academy, and praised the pivotal role of the Secretary General and the Academy and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Afghan authorities in finding practical solutions regarding the situation of women in Afghanistan. He was also pleased with the memorandum of cooperation that the Academy concluded with the University of Birmingham and requested the Secretary General, given his experience and reputation among the Member States, to continue his efforts and discussions with the authorities in Afghanistan on girls’ education and women work in coordination with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

At the end of the meeting, His Excellency renewed his thanks and appreciation to the Secretary General and concluded the visit by writing positive comments in the guest book. The meeting was attended by Mr. Monder Chouk, Director of Cabinet, Protocols, and Legal Affairs.
