Secretary General of the Academy receives Malaysian Minister of Religious Affairs

H.E. Prof. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, the Secretary General of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy, received H.E. Dr. Dato’ Mohd Naim bin Mukhtar, Malaysian Minister of Religious Affairs in the Prime Minister’s Office, and his accompanying delegation at the Academy’s headquarters on Monday, 13 Rajab 1446, corresponding to 13 January 2025.

The Secretary General welcomed his guest and his accompanying delegation, thanked them for visiting the Academy, and expressed his deep gratitude and appreciation to the Government of Malaysia for its support of the Academy from its inception to the present. His Excellency then gave his distinguished guest a brief overview of the vision, mission and objectives of the Academy, noting that the Academy is considered the Ummah’s leading jurisprudential reference, as its membership consists of leading scholars and jurists representing the eight recognized schools of Islamic jurisprudence, to which the OIC Member States and Muslim communities refer for appropriate Shariah rulings.

The Minister thanked the Secretary General of the Academy for the warm welcome and expressed his honour to visit this prestigious scientific institution, which is considered the most important religious authority for Muslims worldwide, and appreciated the great efforts made by the Academy under His Excellency’s leadership in the service of Islam and Muslims, especially in communicating with the ruling authority in Afghanistan. His Excellency also expressed his desire for more Malaysian experts to participate in the Academy’s activities and initiatives and welcomed the opening of a regional office of the Academy in Malaysia in the near future.

His Excellency concluded the visit by inscribing his sentiments in the Book of Honour, where he said: “We ask Allah to bless the efforts of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy and crown these efforts with success in guiding this nation”.

The meeting was attended by Mr Mondher Chouk, Director of Cabinet and Protocols, Mr Mohammed Walid Al-Idrisi, Director of Media, Public Relations and IT, Mrs Sarah Amjad Hussein, Director of Family, Women and Children Affairs, and Mr Amjad Ibrahim Mustafa Al-Mansi, Head of Protocols Division.
