Secretariat General of the Academy participates in 2nd Meeting of OIC Intergovernmental Experts Group

Dr. Abdulfattah Mahmoud Abnauf, Director of Planning and International Cooperation, represented the Secretary General of the Academy in the 2nd Meeting of the Intergovernmental Experts Group of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for the elaboration of the OIC Action Plan for the next decade, 2026-2035, which was held at the OIC headquarters on 27-28 January 2025.

After the adoption of the first schedule and work program in its sessions, the meeting reviewed the strategic objectives proposed by the Members states with the focus on the framework of the priority areas, which amounted in a total of thirty-one (31) areas, representing a summary of submissions to the first meeting of the Experts Group in October 2024.

The interventions of the representatives of the OIC Member States also addressed the need to combine areas of common interest and prioritize what is most essential against the less essential, while taking into account the order of priorities in formulating a solid and effective action program that responds to the challenges, directives and trends of the Member States, and to discuss the extent of implementation of these priorities and the distribution of achievements on the indicators set for the objectives to achieve them.

It is worth mentioning that the proposals concerning the strategic objectives under the top priorities of the relevant areas will be included in the draft comprehensive document prepared by the OIC’s Secretariat General, and which will be presented to the 51st session of the Conference of Foreign Ministers of the OIC Member States, to be held in the Republic of Turkey for approval.
