In efforts to strengthen cooperation and establish strategic partnerships between religious and academic institutions in the Muslim world and beyond, H.E. Mr. Mohammed Walid Al-Idrissi, Acting Secretary General of the Academy, and Director of Media and Public Relations, received H.E. Prof. Irfan Syauqi Bey, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management at the University of Agriculture in Bogor, Indonesia, on Monday, 18 Sha’aban 1446, corresponding to 17 February 2025, at the Academy’s headquarters in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
H.E. Dr. Irfan Bey expressed his happiness and appreciation for the warm welcome and hospitality. He said, “I would like to cooperate with the Academy to benefit from its vast expertise. I’d like to take this opportunity to extend my sincere greetings to His H.E. Prof. Koutoub Sano, Secretary General of the Academy, who was one of my professors at the International Islamic University in Malaysia”. He then added that His Excellency was a professor at the university for many years and held several key positions there, becoming the university’s Vice Chancellor for Innovation”. He also assured that he will do his best to communicate with the authorities in Indonesia to appoint a representative member in the Council of the Academy.
For his part, the Acting Secretary General welcomed H.E. Dr. Irfan and conveyed the greetings of the Secretary General, Prof. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, wishing him success in his endeavors and the commitment of the Academy to support the efforts of all official scientific institutions in the OIC Member States to achieve their scientific and intellectual objectives. He gave an introductory overview of the Academy, its vision, objectives and mission, noting that the Academy is considered as the leading religious authority for the OIC Member States in providing Sharia rulings and solutions to issues of concern to Muslims in the Member States and beyond. The Acting Secretary General affirmed, “I will convey your greetings and message to the Secretary General of the Academy regarding partnership between our two institutions”.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Mohammed Mondher Chouk, Director of Cabinet, Protocol and Legal Affairs, Ms. Sarah Amjad Badawi, Director of Family, Women and Children, Dr. Alhaji Manta Drammeh, Head of International Cooperation and External Relations, and Mr. Amjad Ibrahim Al-Mansi, Head of Protocols.
