On its second day, the 26th Session of the Academy’s Council discussed contemporary issues and developments in childcare, technology, economics, and Ijtihad in five scientific sessions, on Monday, 7 Dhu Qui’da 1446, corresponding to 5 May 2025.
In the first scientific Session, members and experts discussed emerging issues in childcare and protection from harassment, bullying, and neglect. They also discussed the importance of strengthening parental education, shared responsibility in raising children, preserving their rights, digital safety, dealing with drug addiction and addiction to electronic games, and other important issues in childcare. Then in the second Session, Istishab (Legal Continuity) was discussed as a legal guide that can be used to determine the appropriate legal rulings for new issues and developments to be covered by clear and direct texts. Scholars and experts also discussed how to use Istishab in contemporary issues and developments to ensure the stability of legal rulings. In the third Session, the Council of the Academy addressed the issue of artificial intelligence: its rulings, regulations, and ethics. The distinguished researchers discussed many of the benefits and harms resulting from the use of artificial intelligence and issued several recommendations and regulations that will be part of the Council’s resolutions. The fourth Session dealt with new issues and developments in the Islamic finance industry, including the Shariah ruling on the payment of loan increases by a third party and the ruling on charging fees for letters of guarantee and documentary credits.
Accordingly, the Council of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy will announce its resolutions and recommendations on these current issues at its final Session, which will be announced in the closing ceremony on Thursday, 10 Dhul Quida 1446, corresponding to 8 May 2025.
