US Consul General visits the Academy

H.E. Mr. Rafiq Mansour, Consul General and Special Envoy of the United States of America to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and his accompanying delegation visited the Academy’s headquarters on Wednesday, 24 Dhul Quida 1446, corresponding to 21 May 2025. His Excellency and his accompanying delegation were received by H.E. Prof. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary General of the Academy.

H.E. Mr. Mansour, US Consul General, expressed his deep thanks and gratitude to His Excellency for the warm welcome, reiterating his keen interest to meet with the Secretary General of the Academy, following his country’s continuous efforts to strengthen cooperation and coordination with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and its organs, especially the International Islamic Fiqh Academy. He stated: ‘We are grateful for this opportunity to meet with Your Excellency, and I would like to tell you that my colleagues at the Consulate General speak positively about the Academy and the changes that have taken place since you assumed the position of Secretary General.”

For his part, the Secretary General of the Academy expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Consul General and the accompanying delegation. He congratulated him on his new position, wishing him success in his duties, noting that this visit indicates his guest’ keenness to get to know the Academy, strengthen communication and cooperation, familiarize with its objectives, programs, and activities, and its efforts in promoting the values of moderation, coexistence and interfaith dialogue, as well as its initiatives in promoting awareness of the status of women and their right to education and participation in construction, renaissance and development efforts within OIC member states and Muslim communities.

The Consul General concluded his visit by recording his feelings in the golden book: “I am honored to visit the Academy and learn about the important work you do. Thank you for your crucial mission that has a global impact.”

The meeting was attended by Mr. Mohammed Chouk, Director of the Cabinet; Mr. Mohammed Walid Al-Idrissi, Director of Information and Public Relations; Mrs. Sarah Amjad Bedewi, Director of Family and Women; Mr. Saad Salahuddin Al-Samar, Head of the Media Division, and Dr. Hajj Manta Drameh, Head of the International Cooperation Division.
