Secretary General visits the Grand Mufti of Brunei

H.E. Prof. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary General of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy, paid a courtesy visit to the Grand Mufti of Brunei Darussalam, Dr. Haji Abdul Aziz bin Haji Jinnah, at his office in Bandar Seri Begawan on Wednesday evening, 7 Dhul Hijjah 1446, corresponding to 4 June 2025. This visit comes within the framework of the official visit of the Secretary General to the Sultanate of Brunei Darussalam, which aims to strengthen cooperation and coordination between the Academy and religious and scientific institutions in the Sultanate, and discuss ways to support joint efforts in the fields of jurisprudence, thought, advocacy and fatwa.

The Secretary General of the Academy expressed his thanks and gratitude to the Grand Mufti for the warm reception and hospitality, praising the pioneering role played by Dar Al-Ifta in the Sultanate in consolidating the values of moderation, temperance and enhancing the community’s awareness of the correct Sharia rulings in various aspects of life. He also presented His Excellency the Grand Mufti with the last edition of the book Resolutions and Recommendations of the Academy, stating it is the fruit of the scientific and legal efforts made by the Academy to provide contemporary jurisprudential solutions that are consistent with the objectives of Islamic law and respond to modern life developments.

For his part, the Grand Mufti praised the Secretary General, and the great efforts made by the Academy in unifying the efforts of scholars and jurists in the Muslim world, and emphasizing the readiness of Dar Al-Ifta in the Sultanate to enhance cooperation and coordination with the Academy in all that would serve Islam and Muslims.

It is worth noting that officials from both parties attended the meeting.

He also conveyed his sincere appreciation for the Ambassador’s recent visit to the Academy, affirming the Academy’s full readiness to do everything that would enhance partnership, cooperation, coordination, and communication between the Academy and Jordanian religious and academic institutions. His Excellency was accompanied by Mr. Mohammed Al‑Mundhir Rida Al‑Shawk, Director of the Office and Protocol; Mr. Mohammed Waleed Al‑Idrisi, Director of Media and Public Relations; Ms. Sarah Amjad Badawi, Director of the Department of Family, Women, Children, and the Elderly; and Mr. Amjad Ibrahim Al‑Mansi, Head of the Protocol Section.
