HRH Prince Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni Hassanal Bolkiah, Crown Prince and Deputy Sultan of Brunei Darussalam hosted H.E. Prof. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary General of the Academy, on Tuesday morning, 7 Dhul Hijjah 1446, corresponding to 3 June 2025, in the capital, Bandar Seri Begawan.
The meeting took place during the Secretary General’s official visit to the Sultanate of Brunei, upon the invitation of the Sultan, to participate in the international scientific conference on the ‘Shafi’i Madhhab in the Digital Age’, organized by the Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University.
During the meeting, the Secretary-General expressed his deep gratitude for the warm reception and hospitality he received from the Brunei government and its people, noting the Sultanate’s great interest in promoting moderate Islamic values and supporting the efforts of scientific and dawa institutions in the Muslim world. His Excellency also presented the Crown Prince with a copy of the book “Resolutions and Recommendations of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy,” in its fifth revised edition, which includes a summary of the jurisprudential and legal resolutions adopted by the Academy since its establishment until its 25th session, on various contemporary issues and topics of concern to the Ummah.
For his part, His Royal Highness expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Secretary General for this valuable gift, praising the pioneering role played by the Academy in consolidating the Ummah’s jurisprudential authority, strengthening its unity, and promoting a moderate understanding of Sharia.
This meeting embodies the depth of scientific and religious relations between the Academy and the Sultanate of Brunei, as well as an enhancement of cooperation in the service of Islam and Muslims.
