His Excellency Professor Dr. Abdel Latif Abdel Rahman Ibrahim Al-Murr was born in Egypt in 1958. He obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine and Surgery from the Faculty of Medicine, Zagazig University (1984), a Master’s Degree in Public Health and Preventive Medicine from the Faculty of Medicine, Menoufia University (1988), and a Ph.D. in Public Health and Preventive Medicine from the Faculty of Medicine, Zagazig University (1993).
His Excellency was appointed as a designated member representing the Islamic Organization for Medical Sciences on the Council of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy in 2024.
His Excellency has held important positions, including: Professor of Public Health at the Faculty of Medicine, Zagazig University since 2004; Assistant Secretary-General of the Islamic Organization for Medical Sciences in Kuwait; Director of Strategic Planning at Zagazig University; Medical Supervisor for the development of Hajj programs in Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah and Makkah Al-Mukarramah; Advisor to His Excellency the Minister of Health of Kuwait; Advisor to His Excellency the Head of the Oil Sector for Occupational Health; Vice President of the Egyptian Healthcare Society (Management – Quality – Governance); Coordinator of the Egyptian Alliance for Health Promotion; Reviewer for the Medical and Jurisprudential Scientific Journal; and Lecturer for Family Medicine Departments, as well as supervisor and examiner of their theses.
He is also a member of numerous professional, scientific, and national committees, including: the American Public Health Association, the Kuwait Medical Association, the Egyptian Public Health Association, the Egyptian Society of Occupational Health, the Kuwait Public Health Association, the Health Awareness Coordinating Council of the State of Kuwait, the Kuwait Society for Combating Smoking and Cancer, the National Healthy Clinics Program, the National Health Hotline Program, the Kuwait Journalists Association, the International Federation of Journalists, and the National Committee for Fish Mortality in Kuwait.
His Excellency has participated in the meetings of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy and contributed to the development of cooperation in health-related activities with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
He has authored numerous publications on medical topics related to religion and health promotion. He has also appeared in hundreds of television and press interviews that bridge religion and science. His Excellency has been honored and recognized by many countries and international governmental, civil, and health institutions. He currently serves as the Secretary-General of the Islamic Organization for Medical Sciences in Kuwait.
