His Eminence Sheikh Ayatollah Ahmad Mobaleghi

Born in 1961 in the Islamic Republic of Iran, H.E. Sheikh Ayatollah Ahmad Mobaleghi began his studies at the Islamic seminary (hawzah), where he pursued advanced studies to become a teacher. He then taught various subjects, including Qur’anic methodology, advanced Fiqh and Uṣūl, comparative Uṣūl al-Fiqh, philosophy of Fiqh, jurisprudential maxims, methods of Ijtihād, and rapprochement between Islamic schools of thought.

His Eminence has held several prominent positions, including: Member of the Assembly of Experts in Iran, President of the Higher Center for Islamic Sciences and Culture, Director of the Center for Studies on Rapprochement between Islamic Schools of Thought, Director of the Islamic Studies Center affiliated with the Islamic Consultative Assembly, President of the Center for Renewal in Comparative Religious Studies in Lebanon, Editor-in-Chief of the journal Religion and Law, Editor-in-Chief of the journal Comparative Fiqh, Director of the Research Institute for Jurisprudence and Law, and Shariah supervisor for ḥalāl compliance in Iran. He has also participated in numerous international and local conferences.

H.E. Sheikh Ayatollah Ahmad Mobaleghi was appointed as a representative member of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Council of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy in 2024.
