His Excellency Professor Dr. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary-General of the Academy, received Professor Dr. B. Markus Daechsel on Sunday, 7 Sha‘ban 1447 AH, corresponding to 25 January 2026, at the General Secretariat headquarters in Jeddah.

Professor Markus Daechsel is considered one of the leading specialists in the study of Muslim societies and South Asia at Royal Holloway, University of London. He is currently on a research visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, focusing on the history of Islamic economics and finance. He expressed his gratitude to His Excellency for the warm reception, despite His Excellency’s busy schedule.

For his part, His Excellency welcomed him and affirmed the Academy’s readiness to facilitate his research mission, particularly in matters related to the development and transformation of Islamic economics and finance from the early twentieth century to the present.

The meeting concluded with an emphasis on the importance of strengthening scientific and academic cooperation between the Academy and academic and research institutions worldwide.

Also present at the meeting was Dr Alhgi Manta Drammeh, Head of the International Cooperation and External Relations division at the Academy.
