
His Excellency Dr Zulkifli bin Hasan, Minister of Religious Affairs in Malaysia, received His Excellency Prof. Dr. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary-General of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy, accompanied by a delegation from the Academy, in his office in the capital, Kuala Lumpur, on Thursday afternoon, 9 Ramadan 1447 AH, corresponding to 26 February 2026.
The meeting discussed various aspects of mutual cooperation and reviewed the ongoing preparations for convening the twenty-seventh session of the Council of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy, which Malaysia will host this year.
During the meeting, both sides examined the latest organisational and scholarly arrangements related to the upcoming session, including the proposed academic themes, coordination mechanisms with the relevant authorities, and the means of ensuring the appropriate conditions for the success of the Council’s proceedings in a manner that reflects the Academy’s scholarly standing and Malaysia’s pioneering role in addressing contemporary Islamic issues.
His Excellency, the Minister, affirmed his country’s commitment to providing all necessary resources to ensure the success of the forthcoming session, praising the Academy’s scientific role in addressing emerging issues and contemporary challenges with a rigorous and methodical approach.
For his part, His Excellency Prof. Dr Koutoub Moustapha Sano expressed his appreciation to the leadership and government of Malaysia for hosting this session, commending the early preparations and meticulous organisation, and emphasising the importance of strengthening cooperation between the Academy and religious and academic institutions in member states.
This meeting comes within the framework of ongoing coordination between the General Secretariat of the Academy and the competent authorities in Malaysia in preparation for the convening of the twenty-seventh session in Kuala Lumpur later this year.
