
As part of educational visits to introduce the mission and activities of the Academy, the Academy visited the General Secretariat of the Academy’s headquarters in Jeddah on Tuesday, 19 Shawwal 1447 AH, corresponding to 7 April 2026. The delegation was accompanied by several faculty members and was received by His Excellency Prof. Dr Koutoub MoustaphaSano, Secretary General of the Academy, who welcomed the students and their professors, expressing his pleasure at the visit and appreciating the university’s efforts in supporting the educational process. During the meeting, His Excellency presented a comprehensive overview of the Academy’s establishment, objectives, and activities, highlighting its role in addressing contemporary fiqh issues and its status as the supreme fiqh authority for the Organisztion of Islamic Cooperation’s member states. He also affirmed the Academy’s commitment to moderation and renewal, and its pursuit of strengthening disciplined collective ijtihad.
He further discussed the pivotal role of women in building societies and achieving development, noting that certain practices in some communities that diminish the status of women have no connection to the teachings of Islam, and emphasising the importance of education and awareness in correcting such misconceptions.
The meeting included a screening of an introductory documentary film about the Academy, followed by an interactive discussion in which His Excellency answered the students’ questions and listened to their comments, fostering a productive academic atmosphere.
For their part, the delegation’s accompanying representatives expressed their deep gratitude and appreciation for the warm reception, valuing the rich academic presentation delivered by His Excellency, and affirming their aspiration to strengthen cooperation between Dar Al‑Hekma University and the Academy.
The meeting was attended by Ms Sarah Amjad Badewi, Director of the Department of Family, Women, and Childhood, and Dr Alhagi Manta Drammeh, Head of the International Cooperation and External Relations Division at the Academy.
