
His Excellency Professor Dr Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary-General of the Academy, received on Tuesday, 8 Muharram 1448 AH, corresponding to 23 June 2026, His Excellency Ambassador Ahmed Shaheen, the Permanent Representative of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, at the Academy’s General Secretariat headquarters in Jeddah.
His Excellency welcomed the Ambassador, expressing his gratitude and appreciation for this visit, which reflects his keenness to strengthen cooperation and communication between the Academy and the religious and academic institutions of the Arab Republic of Egypt—foremost among them Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, the Council of Senior Scholars, the Egyptian Dar al-Ifta, and the Islamic Research Academy.
His Excellency also expressed the Academy’s deep appreciation to the Arab Republic of Egypt for its support and patronage since its establishment, affirming the depth of the scholarly and historical ties connecting the Academy with Egypt’s esteemed religious institutions. He also reviewed some of the Academy’s most prominent scientific programmes and activities.
For his part, the Ambassador expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to the Secretary-General for the warm welcome and generous hospitality, praising the significant efforts made by the Academy—under His Excellency’s leadership—in serving Islam and Muslims through its diverse scholarly programmes and activities. He affirmed Egypt’s continued support for the Academy and its commitment to strengthening cooperation, coordination, and communication between the Academy and Egyptian religious and academic institutions.
At the conclusion of the visit, the Ambassador wrote a message in the guestbook, stating:
“I am honoured to express my utmost respect and appreciation to Your Excellency and to the International Islamic Fiqh Academy for its important and pioneering role in the Islamic world, with my best wishes to Your Excellency for continued success, prosperity, health, and happiness.”
The meeting was attended by Mr Khalid Hamid Al-Ahmadi, Director of Administrative and Financial Affairs at the Academy; Mr Noufel Al-Shtaywi, Internal Auditor; and Mr Amjad Al-Mansi, Head of the Protocol Department.
