His Excellency Professor Dr. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary General of the Academy, received His Eminence Sheikh Dr. Saud bin Nafee Al-Sulami, Advisor to the Islamic Fiqh Academy of the Muslim World League and Secretary of its Shariah Board, on Tuesday, 15 Muharram 1448 AH, corresponding to 30 June 2026, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Academy in Jeddah.
At the outset of the meeting, His Excellency welcomed Sheikh Dr. Saud Al-Sulami and expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the Muslim World League, represented by the Islamic Fiqh Academy, for its distinguished scholarly efforts in serving Islam and Muslims. He emphasised the Academy’s commitment to strengthening cooperation and coordination with the Islamic Fiqh Academy and to activating the memorandum of cooperation signed between the two institutions, in a manner that contributes to achieving their shared objectives and serving the causes of the Muslim Ummah.
The meeting discussed the academic arrangements related to the forthcoming forum entitled “Jurisprudence of the Objectives of Shariah (Fiqh al-Maqasid al-Shar‘iyyah)”, scheduled to be held in Madrid, Kingdom of Spain, from 4–9 Jumada Al-Awwal 1448 AH, corresponding to 15–20 October 2026, under the theme:
“Geographical Particularity and the Principle of Blocking the Means (Sadd al-Dhara’i) in Shariah Fatwas.”
During the discussion, Sheikh Dr. Al-Sulami presented the academic framework and principal themes of the forum, which aims to address jurisprudential issues related to the realities of Muslim communities living in non-Muslim societies and to develop scholarly recommendations that contribute to guiding fatwa practices while taking into account the higher objectives of Islamic law (Maqasid al-Shariah).
His Excellency affirmed the Academy’s readiness to contribute to the forum’s success by nominating a number of distinguished scholars and researchers with expertise and practical insight into the circumstances of Muslims living in non-Muslim societies. Their participation, he noted, would enrich the forum’s discussions and help achieve its academic objectives.
At the conclusion of the visit, Sheikh Dr. Saud Al-Sulami recorded his remarks in the Academy’s Guest Book, stating:
“Praise be to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah. On this day, the 15th of Muharram 1448 AH, we visited the International Islamic Fiqh Academy in Jeddah.
