
As part of efforts to strengthen coordination and complementarity among OIC member states and institutions, His Excellency Professor Dr. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary General of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy, paid an official visit to the Consulate General of the Republic of Sudan in Jeddah on Tuesday, 28 July 2026.
He was received by Ambassador Dr. Kamal Ali Othman Taha, Consul General of Sudan, who praised the Academy’s distinguished intellectual contributions and reaffirmed Sudan’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with the Academy.
The Consul General briefed the delegation on developments in Sudan and expressed hope for the restoration of stability and normal life throughout the country.
Both sides reviewed areas of common cooperation and discussed ways to expand and strengthen them in the interests of the Sudanese people.
Professor Sano thanked the Consul General for his warm reception and expressed appreciation for Sudan’s longstanding support of the Academy since its inception.
He also inquired about the situation in Sudan and congratulated the Sudanese authorities on recent developments reported by the Sudanese side. Furthermore, he reaffirmed the Academy’s readiness to strengthen partnerships and cooperation with Sudanese scholarly and religious institutions, particularly within the framework of the memorandum of understanding between the International Islamic Fiqh Academy and the Sudanese Islamic Fiqh Academy.
His Excellency was accompanied during the visit by Dr. Abdel Fattah Mahmoud Abnaouf, Director of the Department of Research, Studies, Encyclopedias, Dictionaries and Translation, and Mr. Nabil Khalil Mohammed, Acting Protocol Officer at the Academy.
