
H.E. Professor Dr. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary General of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy (IIFA), t chaired he sixty-ninth monthly staff meeting on Sunday, 2 Rabi‘ al-Thani 1448 AH, corresponding to 13 September 2026, at the Headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Academy in Jeddah.
At the outset of the meeting, the Secretary General welcomed the participants and expressed his sincere appreciation to Dr. Abdel Fattah Mahmoud Ibnouf, Director of the Department of Research, Studies, Encyclopedias and Dictionaries, for assuming the responsibilities of Acting Secretary General during his official leave. He also thanked Dr. Alhagi Manta Drammeh, Director of the Department of Planning and International Cooperation, for carrying out the duties of Acting Secretary General while he was on an official mission outside the host country.
The Secretary General further extended his congratulations to the newly appointed Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on the commencement of his duties at the Organization’s General Secretariat, praying for his success in fulfilling his responsibilities and advancing the Organization’s mission in line with the aspirations and expectations of its Member States.
He then commended the remarkable success of the scientific symposium on “The Role of Religious Leaders in Combating Violence Against Women,” expressing his gratitude to all Academy staff and the various committees whose dedicated efforts contributed to its successful organization. He also noted the positive reception and favourable feedback the symposium received from participants both within and outside the Kingdom.
The Secretary General explained that the meeting was intended to serve as a forum for self-assessment, addressing challenges, proposing improvements, and strengthening communication among staff members. Employees were given the opportunity to present their views and suggestions regarding the enhancement of the Academy’s work and institutional performance.
At the conclusion of the meeting, several decisions and assignments were adopted, most notably:
- To prepare written transcripts of the recorded proceedings of the symposium “The Role of Religious Leaders in Combating Violence Against Women” within one week.
- To compile the draft resolutions prepared by the symposium researchers together with the recommendations, and incorporate the summaries of participants’ interventions, in preparation for submitting the draft recommendations to participants for their comments and observations.
- To prohibit the distribution of books and personal items belonging to staff members during conferences and symposiums.
