IIFA and IZU University in Istanbul Sign a Memorandum of Cooperation

In order to benefit from the expertise and experiences that are abundant in universities, institutes and prestigious scientific centers inside and outside the Muslim world, His Excellency Prof. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary General of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy (IIFA), and His Excellency Prof. Ahmed Cevat Acar, President of Istanbul Zaim University, signed a strategic cooperation agreement between the two institutions on Monday 28 Rabi’ al-Awwal 1444H, corresponding to 24 October 2022G, at the university’s headquarters in Istanbul, Republic of Turkey.

This agreement aims to build a solid strategic partnership in the field of joint study of calamities and contemporary issues with the aim of directing and managing them. The agreement also aims to cooperate in the joint organization of conferences and symposia, holding workshops and training, exchanging publications and periodicals, and representing the two sides in the work of conferences and symposia that are held with the knowledge of each in the field of common interest between them.

After signing the agreement, His Excellency the Secretary General expressed his feelings, saying: “I am happy to visit this promising young university, and happy to learn about its intellectual activities and distinguished scientific programs, and I am happy to enable the Academy to make maximum use of the Academic staff that are abound in it by inviting them to prepare research and studies for participation in the Academy’s conferences and sessions. Finally, I am optimistic that this partnership will be a model for strong and solid cooperation relations between the Academy and the leading scientific, intellectual and research institutions in the Islamic world.”

For his part, His Excellency the President of the University expressed his great pleasure in concluding this historic agreement with one of the most important Fiqh institutions in the world, noting the pioneering and pivotal role played by the Academy in the field of unifying visions and integrating opinions in dealing with calamities and developments strengthening the Islamic perspective and strengthening Islamic solidarity. He concluded by expressing his aspiration to activate the terms of the agreement in the near future in order to mutually benefit from the available capabilities of the two institutions.

In implementation of the terms of the memorandum, the two parties agreed to form a specialized committee to determine the aspects of cooperation between them, and the methods and mechanisms of implementation, as envisaged in the agreement itself.

He commended the tremendous support, gracious care, and continuous attention the Academy has received from the leadership and people of Jordan since its establishment. He also conveyed his sincere appreciation for the Ambassador’s recent visit to the Academy, affirming the Academy’s full readiness to do everything that would enhance partnership, cooperation, coordination, and communication between the Academy and Jordanian religious and academic institutions. His Excellency was accompanied by Mr. Mohammed Al‑Mundhir Rida Al‑Shawk, Director of the Office and Protocol; Mr. Mohammed Waleed Al‑Idrisi, Director of Media and Public Relations; Ms. Sarah Amjad Badawi, Director of the Department of Family, Women, Children, and the Elderly; and Mr. Amjad Ibrahim Al‑Mansi, Head of the Protocol Section.
