Head of International Cooperation participates in Middle East and Africa Peacebuilding Seminar

Dr. Alhagi Manta Drammeh, Head of International Cooperation and External Relations Division, represented the Academy at the virtual seminar entitled: Japan’s Peacebuilding, Reconstruction and Development Efforts in the Middle East and Africa, co-organized by the OIC Secretariat General the Consulate General of Japan in Jeddah, on 11 Sha’ban 1446, corresponding to 10 February 2025.

H.E. Pro. Shinoda Hideaki delivered a lecture on Japan’s foreign policy engagement in Africa and the Middle East for peacebuilding and human resource development, particularly in relation to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and the challenge to peace and security in the region. At the end of the presentation, the participants asked numerous questions about Japan’s model of peacebuilding and post-war reconstruction and the partnership between Japan and the OIC Member States.

Dr. Manta talked about the failure of the international community to find a lasting and sustainable solution to the Gaza tragedy, and Professor Shinoda explained that the international community must be prepared to resolve the Gaza tragedy and that a two-state solution is the way forward where the peoples of Palestine and Israel can live side by side in peace and security.

The seminar, which was attended by officials of the OIC and its affiliated and subsidiary bodies, aimed to enhance coordination between OIC member states and friendly countries around the world. It also acknowledged Japan’s untiring efforts in supporting peace-building efforts in war-torn and other crisis-affected areas in the Middle East and Africa.
