IIFA and Brunei’s Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University sign Cooperation Agreement

As part of his official visit to the Sultanate of Brunei Darussalam, H.E. Professor Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary General of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy, signed a scientific and academic cooperation agreement with Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University, represented by H.E. Dr. Nur Irfan bin Haji Zainal Abedin, President of the University, on Wednesday evening, 8 Dhu Hijjah 1446, corresponding to 4 June 2025.

This agreement aims to enhance scientific and research cooperation between the two institutions, support the exchange of experiences, research, and joint activities, especially in the fields of studying controversies, novelties, and contemporary issues, and develop the research and Sharia skills and abilities of researchers in both institutions.

His Excellency the Secretary General of the Academy expressed his great pleasure in signing this agreement, stressing that it represents a strategic step towards expanding cooperation with leading universities and scientific institutions in the Muslim world, praising the distinguished scientific standing of Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University and its pioneering role in spreading the values of moderation and balance.

For his part, the University President expressed his pride in this fruitful cooperation, pointing out that the agreement will open broad horizons for students and researchers to benefit from the scientific and jurisprudential expertise of the Academy, particularly in its resolutions and recommendations, which are considered a reliable reference in contemporary issues.

After the signing ceremony, the Secretary General presented the President of the University with the book “Resolutions and Recommendations of the Academy” and the book “Glossary of Jurisprudence Terms” authored by the Secretary General in recognition of the high scientific standing of the University and to serve as a valuable scientific reference for its professors and students.

He commended the tremendous support, gracious care, and continuous attention the Academy has received from the leadership and people of Jordan since its establishment. He also conveyed his sincere appreciation for the Ambassador’s recent visit to the Academy, affirming the Academy’s full readiness to do everything that would enhance partnership, cooperation, coordination, and communication between the Academy and Jordanian religious and academic institutions. His Excellency was accompanied by Mr. Mohammed Al‑Mundhir Rida Al‑Shawk, Director of the Office and Protocol; Mr. Mohammed Waleed Al‑Idrisi, Director of Media and Public Relations; Ms. Sarah Amjad Badawi, Director of the Department of Family, Women, Children, and the Elderly; and Mr. Amjad Ibrahim Al‑Mansi, Head of the Protocol Section.
