“O reassured soul, return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing. Enter among My servants, and enter My Paradise.” (Al-Fajr: 27–30)
With profound sorrow and complete submission to the will of Allah, the International Islamic Fiqh Academy received the news of the passing of His Eminence Sheikh ʿAbdulaziz ibn ʿAbdullah ibn Muhammad ibn ʿAbdul-Latif Al-Sheikh, the Grand Mufti of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, President General of Scholarly Research and Ifta, Call and Guidance, and Chairman of the Council of Senior Scholars. He departed this world after a blessed life devoted to knowledge, fatwa, and service to Islam and Muslims.
Throughout his life – may Allah have mercy on him – he called to Allah with wisdom, good exhortation, and the best manner of dialogue. He worked tirelessly to spread monotheism, strengthen moderation, and guide people with knowledge and sincerity, remaining firmly grounded in the Qur’an and Sunnah.
On this painful occasion, the Academy – its President, Secretary General, members, scholars, experts, and staff worldwide – extends its heartfelt condolences to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, to His Royal Highness the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Prime Minister, to the Saudi people, and to the entire Muslim Ummah.
We pray that Allah Almighty envelops the deceased in His mercy, forgives him, grants him the highest ranks in Paradise with the prophets, the truthful, the martyrs, and the righteous, and bestows patience and solace upon his family, students, and loved ones.
“Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed, to Him we shall return.” (Al-Baqarah: 156)
On behalf of the Academy,
Prof. Koutoub Moustapha Sano
Secretary General
