
As part of strengthening cooperative relations in shared fields and consolidating scientific and intellectual ties to address contemporary challenges, the International Islamic Fiqh Academy (IIFA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs of the State of Qatar on Monday, 7 Rabi’ al-Thani 1447 AH, corresponding to September 29, 2025.
The MoU was signed on behalf of the Academy by His Excellency Professor Dr. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary-General of the Academy, and on behalf of the Ministry by His Excellency Dr. Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Ghanem Al Thani, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs.
In his speech on this occasion, His Excellency Professor Sano emphasized that the signing of this MoU crowns the fraternal ties and ongoing cooperation between the Academy and the Qatari Ministry of Endowments. He explained that the Academy’s core mission is to achieve intellectual convergence and knowledge integration among the Ummah’s jurists and specialists in various human and natural sciences. He noted that this partnership will deepen joint efforts to monitor intellectual and social challenges and provide sound Islamic legal opinions that support the stability and prosperity of Muslim societies, preserve heritage, and promote religious awareness.
Dr. Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Ghanem Al Thani affirmed that signing the MoU with the Academy represents a practical step within the Ministry’s strategic plan for international cooperation. He pointed out that the Academy is a strategic partner due to its depth in knowledge and jurisprudence. He added: “This cooperation will have a positive impact on spreading Islamic knowledge and culture, especially in terms of exchanging expertise and publications and organizing joint scholarly events. This will benefit Qatari society and the entire Islamic Ummah.”
The MoU aims to promote Islamic knowledge and culture, preserve Islamic heritage by enriching the Islamic library with rigorous research and scholarly resources. It also aims at organizing joint academic events such as conferences, seminars, and panel discussions to study emerging issues, exchange knowledge resources, publications, and materials issued by both parties, as well as expanding participation in conferences and seminars of mutual interest
This MoU represents an extension of the existing cooperation between the two sides and a consolidation of institutional and jurisprudential partnership that enhances joint efforts to serve the causes of the Islamic Ummah and address its intellectual and social challenges.
