The Bureau of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy Holds Its First Meeting of 2025

The Bureau of the Academy’s Council held its first meeting for the year 1447 AH / 2025 CE on Monday, 28 Rabi’ al-Thani 1447 AH (corresponding to 20 October 2025) via video conferencing. The meeting was chaired by His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Saleh bin Abdullah bin Humaid, President of the Academy’s Council and Vice President of the Bureau, with the participation of H.E. Prof. Dr. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary General of the Academy and Secretary of the Bureau, along with the following esteemed members:

  • Dr. Abu Bakr Doukouré, Member of the Academy, Representative of the African Group
  • Dr. Tijani Saboun Muhammad, Member of the Academy, Representative of the African Group
  • Dr. Ajeel Jasem Al-Nashmi, Member of the Academy, Representative of the Arab Group
  • Dr. Ahmad Abdulaziz Al-Haddad, Member of the Academy, Representative of the Arab Group
  • Mr. Murtadha Badr, Member of the Academy, Representative of the Asian Group

The meeting began with a welcoming address by the President of the Academy, who expressed his gratitude to the esteemed members for their attendance and participation. He also extended his highest thanks and recognition to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and to His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud—may Allah protect them—for their generous support and exceptional care for the Academy and its headquarters in Jeddah, which has enabled it to fulfill its scholarly and jurisprudential mission in the best possible manner.

His Excellency also announced that Malaysia has agreed to host the 27th Session of the Academy’s Council, scheduled to be held in the upcoming year 2026, in sha Allah.

For his part, Prof. Dr. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary General of the Academy, presented the Bureau’s agenda, which included:

  • Approval of the minutes of the previous meeting
  • Review of the activities and achievements of the General Secretariat during the past period
  • Examination of memoranda of cooperation and scientific partnership agreements signed by the Academy with the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs of Qatar and Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University in Brunei Darussalam
  • Review of the Academy’s financial status and follow-up on member states’ contributions

At the conclusion of the meeting, the President and the esteemed members of the Bureau expressed their deep appreciation for the Academy’s efforts in implementing the Bureau’s resolutions and enhancing scientific cooperation with jurisprudential and research institutions in Islamic countries. They also commended the Academy’s initiative to translate its resolutions into Turkish and Urdu, in preparation for their wide dissemination.
