The 156th Regular Weekly Meeting of the Departments
5 May، 2026

His Excellency Prof. Dr. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary-General of the Academy, chaired the 156th weekly meeting of the departments on Monday, 2 Dhul-Qa‘dah 1447 AH, corresponding to 20 April 2026 CE, at the Academy’s General Secretariat headquarters in Jeddah.

His Excellency started the meeting by welcoming the attendees and emphasising the importance of regular meetings in strengthening institutional performance and developing administrative work. He also addressed the importance of reviewing the research submitted for the 27th Session and ensuring that it adheres to the specified themes and the approved principles and standards of academic research. He pointed out that some papers had been observed to rely heavily on artificial intelligence outputs. His Excellency clarified the difference between using AI as a tool for gathering information and inferences—while verifying their accuracy through reliable sources—and relying entirely on AI to prepare research without documentation or verification. He explained that this issue had recently been detected using a specialised programme designed to identify such practices. He also instructed that all research papers be subjected to this program to ensure their academic integrity before final approval and submission for printing.

His Excellency further called on the Research Department to closely monitor this matter, ensure that all papers comply with the designated themes, and compile the accepted papers in their final form for sequential submission to the printing press.

The meeting resulted in several decisions, the most notable of which were:

  • Reviewing all submitted research papers and ensuring that they are free from complete reliance on artificial intelligence, while allowing its use only for gathering information and supporting arguments, provided that the accuracy of such information is verified through approved sources.
  • Providing information regarding the mechanisms for selling the Academy’s books through electronic platforms.
  • Completing the printing of the final version of the strategic plan after its introduction is prepared by His Excellency the Secretary-General.
