
During his official visit to the Kingdom of Morocco, His Excellency Professor Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary General of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy, met on Wednesday, 22 July 2026, at the headquarters of the Council in Rabat with Professor Al-Yazid Ar-Radi, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Ulema, accompanied by Professor Dr. Saïd Chibar, Deputy Secretary General, and several Council members.
During the meeting, the Council presented its recent achievements and projects relating to religious guidance, the promotion of moderation, and the preservation of Morocco’s religious constants.
The methodology of the Council’s Scientific Fatwa Commission was also presented. Composed of distinguished scholars, the Commission issues legal opinions on matters of public concern following collective and rigorous scholarly deliberation.
For his part, His Excellency Professor Sano expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome and praised the Council’s pioneering role in organizing religious affairs, promoting moderation, and institutionalizing collective ijtihad in the issuance of fatwas.
He also outlined the Academy’s vision and mission and reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening cooperation with fatwa institutions and councils of scholars throughout the Islamic world and beyond.
At the conclusion of the visit, both sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to enhancing scientific and institutional cooperation in the service of Islam and Muslims.
