The seminar began with the presentation of several academic papers and scientific studies addressing four main themes: the concept of violence, its causes and manifestations; the relevant Islamic legal sources and the correction of misconceptions; societal, institutional, media, and international approaches to addressing violence; and the role of religious leaders in preventing and responding to violence.

In the first and second themes, researchers examined the concept of violence against women, its causes and forms, as well as the relevant Islamic legal foundations. They also explored ways to correct misconceptions related to certain religious texts, with the aim of providing a well-grounded scholarly approach based on the Qur’an, the Sunnah, the overarching principles of Islamic law, and its objectives. This approach seeks to avoid both excess and negligence and to prevent the misuse of religious texts to justify practices that contradict the values of justice, mercy, and righteousness.

The papers presented under the third theme reviewed societal, institutional, media, and international approaches to combating violence against women. The fourth theme was devoted to discussing the role of religious leaders in prevention and intervention, with contributions from a number of scholars, researchers, and specialists. These discussions highlighted the importance of religious leadership in raising awareness, correcting misconceptions, guiding social practices, protecting the family, and safeguarding women’s dignity from all forms of abuse and harm.

The sessions witnessed extensive discussions on the research papers and perspectives presented, focusing on the contribution of religious discourse to the prevention of and response to violence, as well as ways to bridge sound Islamic legal foundations with contemporary social realities. The objective is to promote a balanced and enlightened discourse that preserves women’s dignity, ensures family tranquility, and contributes to social security and stability.

The seminar aims to establish a sound understanding of violence against women from an Islamic perspective, clarify its manifestations, causes, and effects, correct misconceptions associated with certain religious texts, strengthen the role of religious leaders in preventing and addressing violence, and develop a religious discourse that combines the authenticity of evidence with an awareness of contemporary realities, a proper understanding of religious texts, and their effective application.

It is worth noting that the seminar’s official opening ceremony is scheduled to take place at midday today. Scientific discussions will then resume during the afternoon sessions, and the event will conclude with a closing session presenting its key findings and recommendations.
