Secretary General of the Academy concluded his official visit by meeting members of the Supreme Scientific Council of the Kingdom of Morocco.

His Excellency Prof. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary General of the Academy, held in Rabat on Thursday 01 Jamada al-Akhira, corresponding to 14 January, 2021, a fruitful meeting with the honourable members of the Supreme Scientific Council in Morocco chaired by His Eminence Dr. Mohamed Youssef, Secretary General of the Council, who welcomed the Secretary General of the Academy at the Council’s headquarters and congratulated him on his appointment as Secretary General of the Academy.

H.E. the Secretary General of the Academy spoke about the Academy with the members of the Supreme Scientific Council, who represent the best scholars of the Kingdom of Morocco, and expressed his pleasure for this renewed meeting between the Secretariat General of the Academy and the members of the Supreme Scientific Council, which had previously hosted His Excellency to deliver a series of scientific lectures on Islamic financial transactions sixteen years ago.

For his part, H.E. the Secretary General of the Academy expressed his generous thanks and gratitude to the members of the Council for the warm welcome, and conveyed to the honorable Council the greetings of the President of the Academy, H.E. Sheikh Saleh bin Abdullah bin Hamid, Advisor to the Royal Saudi Court, member of the Council of Great Scholars, and Imam Khatib at the Grand Mosque of Makkah Al-Mukarramah. His Excellency also expressed his great appreciation for the blessed scientific efforts that the Supreme Scientific Council has exerted for the regularity and stability of the people of the Kingdom of Morocco, with the aim of orienting human life with the teachings of the noble Shariah based on the Holy Book of Allah and the Sunnah of his Messenger – Allah’s blessing and peace be upon him and his family, and on the rich Islamic heritage. His Excellency also praised the great scientific achievements of the Council, the latest of which was its supervision of the distinguished translation into English of Imam Malik’s book of al-Muwatta – May Allah have mercy on him.

His Excellency took the opportunity to present the vision, mission, objectives and means of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy to the members of the Supreme Council, referring to several scientific programs and activities that have been organized by the Academy since its foundation to date. At the same time, he noted the distinguished presence and great contribution of Moroccan scholars in various activities and programs of the Academy. His Excellency also renewed the appeal to the members of the Supreme Council to strengthen cooperation and document the communication links between the two institutions in the coming days.

At the end of his speech, His Excellency expressed the Academy’s firm will to establish a permanent partnership with the Supreme Scientific Council at all levels, considering that hosting one of the Academy’s sessions after the end of the pandemic would be the beginning of a new page in the relations between the two institutions, as well as the joint organization of specialized scientific conferences and seminars, and the preparation of scientific studies and research on issues and topics of common interest.

His Excellency concluded his speech by praying for success to His Majesty King Mohammed VI – may Allah assist him – by wishing the Moroccan people more progress, advancement, security, safety and stability, and by also expressing his thanks to H.E. Prime Minister, Mr. He also thanked H.E. Prime Minister Saad Eddin El Othmani, H.E. the Minister of Habous and Islamic Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Al-Tawfiq, and H.E. the Secretary General of the Council, Dr. Mohamed Youssef, and all honourable scholars and experts, members of the Council for their generous patronage during his visit to the Kingdom of Morocco.

At the end of the meeting, the Secretary General of the Academy presented H.E. the Secretary General of the Supreme Council with a copy of the Academy’s publications.

It is worth noting that the Supreme Scientific Council of the Kingdom of Morocco represents the highest religious scientific authority and the first reference for fatwas and the declaration of ruling on emerging issues and calamities. His Majesty King Mohammed VI – may Allah preserve him – is the president of the Council whose members are considered the most eminent scholars of the Kingdom of Morocco.
