IIFA Secretary General visits W.I.S.E in Amman

His Excellency Prof. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary General of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy (IIFA), visited on Monday 2 of Dhu al-Hijjah 1442 corresponding to July 12, 2021, the World Islamic Sciences & Education University (W.I.S.E) in Amman, Jordan.

Upon his arrival at the university, he was received by Prof. Mohamad Ali AlKhalaileh, President of the University, who welcomed him and the accompanying delegation. He also gave him a brief overview of the university and its faculties, stressing the university’s desire to cooperate and communicate with the Academy in order to benefit from the common experiences.

For his part, His Excellency the Secretary General expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Excellency the President of the University and the administrative staff who work with him, praising the keenness of the University to teach the four Sunni schools of thought in a focused and profound manner, in an effort to preserve the cultural and intellectual heritage of the Muslim Ummah, and in the hope of preparing a young generation that understands the Ummah’s heritage, and reject extremism, fanaticism, and terrorism in thought and behavior. His Excellency also noted the importance of the Amman Message, which was unanimously agreed on by the Academy’s contemporary jurists and experts, as they considered it the most important, solid, contemporary, and comprehensive scientific message which should be the starting point in highlighting the pure image of Islam, uniting the voice of Muslims, unifying all Muslims, and rejecting fanaticism, extremism, and terrorism. His Excellency emphasized that his keenness to visit the university comes in appreciation of the university’s educational reputation, as well as its prominent role in attracting talented students from all over the world as a contribution to the Islamic civilizational project.

Prof. AlKhalaileh, for his part, stressed that the Amman Message came to confront the contemporary challenges facing the Muslim Ummah and goes beyond to include all humanity. It included the common aspects between all human beings confirming that Islam is a religion that accepts and respects the other and enhances the concept of human civilization.

The meeting was attended by the Vice President of the University, Prof. Mowaffaq Miqdadi, and the Assistant President of the University, Dr. Haroon Al-Qudah, and the deans of the faculties of the four schools of thought at the university.

At the end of the visit the two sides exchanged souvenirs.
