OIC Secretary General Elect visits IIFA General Secretariat in Jeddah

His Excellency Prof. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary General of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy (IIFA), received His Excellency Mr. Hussein Ibrahim Taha, the Secretary General elect of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), on Monday, 21 Muharram 1443H corresponding to August 30, 2021D, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Academy in Jeddah.

His Excellency IIFA’s Secretary General welcomed His Excellency and the delegation accompanying him and thanked him for this visit, which aims to get acquainted with the Academy and its activities and programs. He also congratulated him on his election as the Secretary General of the OIC, wishing him success in his new mission. Then he presented to His Excellency a brief overview of the Academy’s history, mission, goals, and tasks entrusted to it, noting in this regard the intellectual and scientific efforts exerted by the Academy in order to spread and promote a culture of moderation, combat fanaticism and violence, and enhance cooperation, coordination, and rapprochement among the Ummah’s jurists, scholars, and experts, in order to correct misconceptions and highlight the true image of Islam.

For his part, His Excellency the OIC’s Secretary General elect expressed his happiness to visit the Academy and meet with its Secretary General and staff. He also expressed his satisfaction with the developments and qualitative changes that the Academy is witnessing, as well as his appreciation of the important position occupied by the Academy in the contemporary world, especially with regard to the correct handling of the challenges facing the Ummah at various levels. His Excellency also praised the importance of the moderation approach that the Academy adheres to in order to refute misconceptions about Islam and renounce violence. In this regard, he affirmed his full support for the Academy to perform its mission fully in the service of Islam and humanity.

The meeting was attended by His Excellency Ambassador Ali Sousel, Director of the Legal Affairs Department of the Chadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Adviser to His Excellency the Secretary General elect, Mr. Mohamed Mondher Al-Chouk, Director of the Department of Cabinet Affairs and Protocol at the Academy, Ms. Sarah Amjad Hussein, Director of the Family Affairs Department at the Academy, and Mr. Mourad TLiLi, Adviser to the Secretary General for Media Affairs and Public Relations at the Academy.

He commended the tremendous support, gracious care, and continuous attention the Academy has received from the leadership and people of Jordan since its establishment. He also conveyed his sincere appreciation for the Ambassador’s recent visit to the Academy, affirming the Academy’s full readiness to do everything that would enhance partnership, cooperation, coordination, and communication between the Academy and Jordanian religious and academic institutions. His Excellency was accompanied by Mr. Mohammed Al‑Mundhir Rida Al‑Shawk, Director of the Office and Protocol; Mr. Mohammed Waleed Al‑Idrisi, Director of Media and Public Relations; Ms. Sarah Amjad Badawi, Director of the Department of Family, Women, Children, and the Elderly; and Mr. Amjad Ibrahim Al‑Mansi, Head of the Protocol Section.
