21st Periodic Meeting of Divisions Heads

On Thursday, 02 Safar 1443H corresponding to September 09, 2021G, His Excellency Prof. Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary General of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy (IIFA), chaired the twenty first periodic meeting of the heads of divisions at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Academy.

His Excellency began the meeting by welcoming the attendees, especially the employees returning from the annual vacations, calling on everyone to do everything in their power to achieve the goals of the department to which they belong, and to coordinate and cooperate with the rest of the departments in order to implement all the programs and activities of the strategic plan.

His Excellency spoke about the status of the Academy, its mission, vision, and programs, explaining the uniqueness of the Academy in being the only Fiqh Academy whose members consist of the jurists of the reputable Islamic schools of thought to which more than a billion Muslims follow all over the world. His Excellency also pointed out the need for all the employees of the Academy to learn about the history of Islamic schools of thought and their founders in order to avoid any misinterpretations and misunderstandings.

His Excellency also stressed importance and uniqueness of the bi-monthly division heads’ meetings, which are concerned with the details of major policies and plans set by the departments and which the divisions implement with precision and professionalism in perfect harmony between all divisions and departments, which facilitates and paves the way for complete success and the overall achievement of the Academy’s objectives.

The meeting discussed a number of issues and topics, and took a number of decisions regarding them, the most important of which are:

  • Tasking the Gifts Committee of the Academy to provide a complete inventory of all publications in stores so that they can be distributed to university libraries inside and outside the member states.
  • Accelerate the preparation of the scientific symposium on the family and the scientific symposium on atonement.
  • Assigning the Research Department to start working on a project to prepare a glossary of the Academy’s scholars since its inception until today, and to issue it in the three official languages ​​of the Academy.

Secretary‑General of the Academy Visits the Consulate General of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan His Excellency Professor Dr. Qutb Mustafa Sano, Secretary‑General of the Academy, paid an official visit on 29 Sha‘ban 1447 AH, corresponding to 17 February 2026, to the Consulate General of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in Jeddah. His Excellency and his accompanying delegation were received by His Excellency Ambassador Mohammed Salah Sobhi Hameed, Consul General and Permanent Representative of Jordan to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, who welcomed him warmly and expressed his pleasure at the visit. He praised the distinguished intellectual efforts undertaken by the Academy under His Excellency’s leadership in addressing numerous religious and intellectual issues of concern to the Islamic world, affirming his personal honor in meeting His Excellency again and Jordan’s keenness to strengthen channels of communication and cooperation with the Academy, especially in areas of mutual interest. For his part, His Excellency expressed his deep gratitude and great appreciation to the Ambassador for the warm reception and generous hospitality. He commended the tremendous support, gracious care, and continuous attention the Academy has received from the leadership and people of Jordan since its establishment. He also conveyed his sincere appreciation for the Ambassador’s recent visit to the Academy, affirming the Academy’s full readiness to do everything that would enhance partnership, cooperation, coordination, and communication between the Academy and Jordanian religious and academic institutions. His Excellency was accompanied by Mr. Mohammed Al‑Mundhir Rida Al‑Shawk, Director of the Office and Protocol; Mr. Mohammed Waleed Al‑Idrisi, Director of Media and Public Relations; Ms. Sarah Amjad Badawi, Director of the Department of Family, Women, Children, and the Elderly; and Mr. Amjad Ibrahim Al‑Mansi, Head of the Protocol Section.
