Statement on the Bombings the Dahab tourist complex in Sinai, Egypt

Praise is due to Allāh, Lord of the worlds, may the blessings and peace be upon our master Muḥammad, the last of prophets, on his family, and all his companions.

The Secretariat General of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy strongly denounces the attacks that targeted the Dahab tourist complex in Sinai and El-Djourra airport in Arish in the Arab Republic of Egypt on Monday and Wednesday, 24-26 April 2006. These attacks left 23 people dead and more than 85 injured.

The Academy affirms that the perpetrators of these crimes are devoid of all human values and religious principles that preserve the sacredness of the human soul, blood and material goods.

The Academy reiterates the positions of all Muslim jurists and scholars who strongly denounce all acts, methods, and actions of terrorism, wherever and by whoever committed.

The Academy strongly condemns these savage acts and presents its sincere condolences to His Excellency President Mohamed Hosni Mubarak, the Egyptian government and people, and victims’ families. It also implores Allah, the Almighty, to grant His broad mercy and approval to the martyrs, grant their families patience, heal the wounded promptly, and bring peace and security to all Egypt.

And may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family and companions.

Dr. Mohamed Habib Belkhodja
