Statement on the Current Events in the Gaza Strip

Praise is due to Allāh, Lord of the worlds, may the blessings and peace be upon our master Muḥammad, the last of prophets, on his family, and all his companions.

The Secretariat General of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy in Jeddah, on behalf of all scholars and jurists of the Muslim world, strongly denounces what the Palestinian Muslim people in the Gaza Strip are undergoing as a painful ordeal that affects their necessary and basic human needs.

In order to prevent the continuation of this aggression by the Israeli authorities against the Muslim Palestinian people, the Secretariat General calls on international organizations responsible for keeping peace and international security and defending human rights, to rush to stop this injustice and urgently lift the blockade on the Gaza Strip.

In order to alleviate the effects of this offensive and the suffering of the Palestinian people, the Secretariat General calls upon the Muslim countries in particular and the humanity in general to provide them with urgent aid, in application of the words of Allah The Almighty: « And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression. And fear Allah; indeed, Allah is severe in penalty. » Al-Ma’ida -2

The Academy vigorously denounces this situation and implores Allah the Almighty to consolidate the foundations for security, stability, prosperity and strength of Palestine.

The Academy commends the actions of some Muslim countries and their relief organizations, including the coordination efforts of the OIC Secretary General, Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsan Oglu, on both political and humanitarian levels. These efforts include consultations with Palestinian leaders to restore the unity of the Palestinian people, coordination over the delivery of urgent relief and human aid to the Gaza Strip, and alleviating the ordeal’s adverse effects.

And may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family and companions.
